Frugal Recipes

Trying to eat on as little money as possible.

MYO Peanut Butter Crackers

There are some foods that are just cheaper, less wasteful and healthier when homemade, and peanut butter crackers is one of those foods. And they are easy to make:

Ingredients:

crackers

peanut butter

  1. Simple spread peanut butter on a cracker.
  2. Top with a second cracker and eat.

These make great snacks while at home, work, school or on the road. You can make this even healthier by using wheat crackers and all natural/organic peanut butter, though doing so will raise the price.

What to do with Leftover Rice

A lot of people are at a loss when they have leftover rice. They wonder what can be done with it. Leftover rice can be used in different ways. It can be frozen until needed as well. Here are my best ideas for using leftover rice.

  • Add it to soups.
  • Add it to casseroles.
  • Add it to burgers.
  • Add it to meat loaf.

What ideas can you come up with?

What to do with Leftover Pasta

Pasta is a cheap,  meal to make. Depending on what type of pasta you have leftovers of, you can do a plethora of things with it. I want to offer up some cheap ideas, and I want to ask what you do with your leftover pasta.

Here are the ideas that I have come up with:

  1. Spaghetti Birds Nests: Place spaghetti coated with sauce into muffin cups, top with a meatball and warm in the oven.
  2. Lasagna Roll-Ups: Simply wrap a lasagna noddle around a mound of mixed cheeses, and bake after covering lightly with sauce or tomato soup.
  3. Small Mac and Cheese Casserole: A loaf pan can be used for this. Spread leftover mac and cheese on the bottom, top with leftover vegetables and meats.

These are just a few of the things that you can do with leftover pasta. Please share your ideas.

This is quick and easy if you save leftovers each time you make tacos. Save up the odd shells, freeze the leftover taco meat and cheeses. The dinner is easy:

  1. Break up the taco shells and spread them in the bottom of a baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle to taco meat over the shells.
  3. Sprinkle the cheese over the meat.
  4. Bake at 350* until cheese is melted and meat is warmed through.
  5. Dish up the taco bake, and add whatever topics you like.

Yum!

What to do with Leftover Meatballs

It can be a lot of fun coming up with new ideas for leftovers. Why not save some money on your grocery bill by brainstorming ideas for foods that you usually make too much of.

Here are some ideas for using up leftover meatballs:

  • Smush them up and add them to pizza sauce.
  • Use them as a pizza topping.
  • Add them to Sloppy Joe’s.
  • Make meatball sandwiches.
  • Use in place of taco meat in tacos.
  • Make a meatball soup.

Happy creating!

What to do with Leftover Taco Meat

I am a full believer in using up leftovers. It is one of the most frugal things that we can all do, and will save a noticable amount of food money throughout the year.

I like to come up with as many ways as I can to reuse each type of food, and today I will be concentrating on leftover taco meat. Here are the ideas that I have come up with:

  • You can freeze portions of meat and make a taco dinner.
  • You can use it as pizza topping.
  • You can add it to pasta or pizza sauce.
  • You can use it as filler for fajitas/tortillas.
  • You can add it to meatballs.

Can you come up with any other ideas?

What Would You Like to See Here?

I am planning the future of this blog. Yes, I am still working on this overhaul. What I would like to know is what my readers would like to see here.

If you could all just comment on this post and let me know, that would be great. Afterall, this blog would not be here if it weren’t for all of you.
