Herb Profile: Chamomile

Chamomile, a member of the daisy family, will grow easily in a home garden or on a windowsill. The tea has been used for medicinal purposes for a long time, and are made from the flower head to take advantage of the oils.

Chamomile is good for many ailments, including

  • Anxiety
  • Cankers
  • Diarrhea
  • Eczema
  • Insomnia
  • Gingivitis
  • Migraines

Note: Consult a doctor if you are being treated for any illnesses before using any type of food for its’ health benefits.

To cure conjunctivitis: Place a chamomile tea bag in warm water for a few minutes, then apply to the infected eye. Do this three times a day. Not only does this help humans, but it will help cats and dogs as well.
